Prairieland Energy

…provides electric, steam and chilled water utility service to residential and commercial customers in non-University buildings on University of Illinois property. It is an Illinois corporation formed and wholly owned by the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois. Prairieland was formed November 19, 1996 for the purpose of producing, acquiring and selling various forms of energy to the University and other customers.

Commercial customers

…work with an approved University of Illinois representative to make certain that the facilities necessary to receive service from PEI are installed. Once approved for utility service, the customer must request a service contract from PEI, complete and return it to PEI. Upon receipt of the signed contract, the approved University of Illinois representative oversees initiation of service and notifies PEI of the electric service start date and beginning meter read.  More  »
